Aaron Nicholas West is a sound artist, multi-instrumentalist and educator based in Kentucky. His work is rooted in musique concrète: sounds drawn from tape manipulation, analog effects and field recordings, then layered with traditional instruments such as violin and piano. The results range from serene ambient soundscapes to intense, abrasive environments.
He has released a large body of work on Bandcamp, including studio albums and live recordings made in Kentucky and Deventer, the Netherlands, as well as a release on Humanhood Recordings. His recent collaboration, Threads of Quiet Radiance, pairs his music with the visual art of Belgian artist Bruno Decock.
In 2026 he presented work at soundpedro, the annual sound art festival held at Angels Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro, California.
Alongside his own music, he teaches violin, viola, piano, theory and composition. He releases much of his work in small runs on physical formats, including cassette, 8-track cartridge and compact disc.
